All our hosting packages are suitable for a free SSL certificate from Let's Encrypt. These certificates can be easily requested and renewed via the Plesk control panel.
Note: when you have transferred the domain to us or only changed the A record of the domain, a free SSL certificate for your website will be requested automatically within a maximum of 2 hours. You don't have to do anything else for this.
With the exception of Wildcard SSL certificates, certificates are automatically renewed by the Plesk control panel. A Wildcard certificate cannot be renewed automatically and involves additional steps in the DNS settings of your domain, and is especially suitable for advanced users.
To request a free SSL certificate, follow these steps:
Step 1: Log in to Plesk Log in to the Plesk control panel. If you're not sure how to do this, use this guide. Choose the SSL/TLS Certificates option.
Step 2: Request an SSL certificate
A new window will open, and when you scroll all the way down, you'll see the option: "Install a free basic certificate provided by Let's Encrypt."
If you click on "Install" below, the SSL certificate will be installed on your website.
Note: A Wildcard certificate cannot be automatically renewed and involves additional steps in the DNS settings of your domain, and is especially suitable for advanced users. We will skip this step for this reason.
In the next screen, you can configure your SSL certificate. First, enter the email address where notifications from Let's Encrypt about your certificate can be sent.
Check the following options:
- Add a "www-subdomain" for the domain and any selected aliases.
- Secure webmail on this domain.
- Assign the certificate to the email domain.
Then click the "Get it for free" button. The free SSL certificate will now be requested and installed for you.
You may receive an error message:
If you see the following error message:
"Unable to issue a Let's Encrypt certificate for a domain or its mail in Plesk: the DNS challenge used another IP address."
This is because the domain has just been newly registered or transferred and the IP address of your domain is not yet known to all DNS servers worldwide. Wait an hour or two and try again.
